What's included in COVID 19 Cover?

  • Medical expenses for hospitalization like room rent, nursing expenses, ICU/ICCU expenses, blood, oxygen, ventilator charges, costs towards diagnostics, PPE Kit, gloves, mask and such similar other expenses.
  • Medical expenses for treatment of COVID 19 availed at home for maximum up to 14 days.
  • Medical expenses incurred on treatment of any comorbidity along with the treatment for COVID 19
  • If you opt for AYUSH treatment (Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy systems of medicines), it will also covered.
  • Pre-hospitalization expenses for 15 days and post hospitalization expenses for 30 days is also covered under this policy.

Medical expenses for Hospitalization during the policy term for treatment of COVID including treatment of any Co-Morbidity illness will be covered up to the Sum Insured for:

  • Room Rent, Boarding, Nursing Expenses as provided by the Hospital / Nursing Home.
  • Intensive Care Unit (ICU) / Intensive Cardiac Care Unit (ICCU) expenses.
  • Surgeon, Anesthetist, Medical Practitioner, Consultants, Specialist Fees whether paid directly to the treating doctor / surgeon or to the hospital
  • Anesthesia, blood, oxygen, operation theatre charges, surgical appliances, ventilator charges, medicines and drugs, costs towards diagnostics, diagnostic imaging modalities, PPE Kit, gloves, mask and such similar other expenses.
  • Road Ambulance subject to a maximum of Rs.2000/- per hospitalization for the Ambulance services offered by a Hospital or by an Ambulance service provider, provided that the Ambulance is availed only in relation to COVID Hospitalization
  • Note:Expenses of Hospitalization for a minimum period of 24 consecutive hours only shall be admissible.

Home care treatment includes Expenses for treatment of COVID availed at home for maximum up to 14 days per incident for -

  • Diagnostic tests undergone at home or at diagnostics centre 
  • Medicines prescribed in writing
  • Consultation charges of the medical practitioner
  • Nursing charges related to medical staff
  • Medical procedures limited to parenteral administration of medicines
  • Cost of Pulse oximeter, Oxygen cylinder and Nebulizer

Provided:

  • The Medical practitioner advices the Insured person to undergo treatment at home.
  • There is a continuous active line of treatment with monitoring of the health status by a medical practitioner for each day through the duration of the home care treatment.
  • Daily monitoring chart including records of treatment administered duly signed by the treating doctor is maintained.
  • Insured shall be permitted to avail the services as prescribed by the medical practitioner. Cashless or reimbursement facility shall be offered under homecare expenses subject to claim settlement policy disclosed in the website.

In case the insured intends to avail the services of non-network provider claim shall be subject to reimbursement, a prior approval from the Insurer needs to be taken before availing such services.

  • HDFC Life will pay an interest^ on your death claim amount for every day of delay beyond one working day

1) For all claims* fulfilling above mentioned conditions, provided we receive all the required documents, the claim will be processed within one working day and decision will be communicated accordingly. 2) Investigation / Open title / Rival / Court involved Claims are excluded. 3) Policy duration at the time of event is at least >=3 years. 4) Saturday, Sunday, public festivals and non-NAV days (for ULIP) are excluded (not treated as a working day)

#Documentation Details

Claim form, Nominee photograph, Pan card copy, Identity and Address proof of nominee. (If nominee is minor, documents of appointee to be submitted). Death certificate issued by competent authority for death registrations. Medical cause of death certificate. Cancelled cheque/copy with the name of nominee/appointee mentioned on it as per the passbook of the nominee/appointee. Past & current complete medical records including discharge/death summary, indoor case papers, investigation reports, consultation notes. In case of an accidental death, additional documents will be required. Post Mortem Report, Panchnama, Police Inquest report, First/Final Information report, Viscera/Chemical Analysis report.

  1. Sum Assured on Death is the absolute amount of benefit which is guaranteed to become payable on death of the life assured in accordance with the terms and conditions of the policy or an absolute amount of benefit which is available to meet the health cover.
  2. Total Premiums Paid are the total of all the premiums received, excluding any extra premium, any rider premium and taxes.
  3. Sum Assured on Maturity is the amount which is guaranteed to become payable on maturity of the policy, in accordance with the terms and conditions of the policy.
  4. Basic Sum Assured is the amount of sum assured chosen by the policyholder.
  5. Annualized Premium is the premium amount payable in a year chosen by the policyholder, excluding taxes, rider premiums, underwriting extra premiums and loadings for modal premiums, if any.
  6. Premium rates for age - 30 years, Male, Non Smoker, Annual mode, regular pay, inclusive of taxes. Protection Cover - Life Protect Option Annual Premium - Rs.631, Sum Assured - Rs. 50 Thousand. Policy Term - 50 years, Health Cover - Optima secure option with Individual Option, Sum Assured - Rs. 10 Lakh, Policy term - 3 years, Aggregate deductible - 1 Lakh, Annual Premium - Rs. 7,567. Total annual premium = Rs. 8,198, monthly premium(8198/12) = 683(rounded off).
